3M VHB 5930P is a 0.8mm black double-sided acrylic foam tape: modified acrylic adhesive on a very conformable closed-cell foam core, carried on a white polycoated kraft paper (PCK) liner. It bonds metals, glass, most plastics and powder-coated paints, and replaces rivets, welds, screws or liquid adhesives.
5930P belongs to the same family as 3M 5930 and differs mainly in the liner: 5930P uses a PCK paper liner, which keeps its dimensions when the tape is kiss-cut and suits automated converting, while 5930 uses a PE film liner. We slit rolls to the widths listed on this page, and die-cut parts to your drawing; other widths and roll lengths can be converted to order.
3M publishes a total thickness of 0.8mm (32 mil), short-term temperature resistance up to 149 °C (up to 4 hours) and up to 93 °C for long-term use, and supplies this product in standard widths from 12.7mm to 1168mm and roll lengths of 33m and above.
Note: 5930P is not a gap-filling sealant. Surfaces must be clean, dry and flat, and the joint should keep the tape in compression; rough or mismatched surfaces need a thicker foam or a mechanical fixing.

Yes. 3M lists VHB 5930P as a replacement for mechanical fasteners such as rivets, welding and screws on painted and powder-coated surfaces. It is not a gap-filling sealant, so the surfaces should be clean, dry and flat, and the joint should keep the tape in compression.
The adhesive is pressure sensitive, so it bonds on contact and gives immediate handling strength. The strength values 3M publishes are measured at 22 °C after a 72-hour dwell time, so allow at least 72 hours after assembly before applying the design load.
3M publishes a short-term temperature resistance of up to 149 °C for exposure of up to 4 hours, and up to 93 °C for long-term use. Both values are quoted from the 3M documents linked in the product description above.
Both are 0.8mm black acrylic foam tapes from the same 5952 family. The difference is the liner: 5930P is supplied on a white polycoated kraft paper (PCK) liner that keeps its dimensions when the tape is kiss-cut, while 5930 uses a PE film liner.
Yes. Rolls are slit in-house to the widths listed on this page, and we die-cut parts to your drawing. Other widths and roll lengths can be converted to order - send the drawing or sample together with the quantity you need for a quote.
Related tapes with a different thickness, carrier or adhesive — we convert and die-cut them to your drawing, and can send samples with the matching TDS.
